Locus Search

Locus Search

Locus Search helps find gene and TE records for C. rubella, C. orientalis, and C. grandiflora.

Search Pages

Find a Locus

Go to a species-specific Locus Search page > Enter a gene ID, TE ID, keyword, alias, TE type, or ortholog ID > Click the Search button > Open the matching locus.

Search Examples

Search typeExample queryDescription
Gene IDCr1G00010Search for a gene using a species-specific gene ID.
TE IDTE_homo_0Search for a transposable element using a TE identifier.
TE typeClass ISearch for TE records by broad TE class.
TE family/typeLTRSearch for LTR retrotransposon-related records.
TE superfamilyGypsySearch for Gypsy retrotransposon-related records.
Repeat typeSatelliteSearch for satellite repeat-related records.
Gene aliasRDR2Search for a gene using a functional annotation alias.
Ortholog IDAT4G11130In a species-specific search page, search for an orthologous Arabidopsis thaliana gene ID when available.
Ortholog IDCg1G00010In the C. rubella search page, search for an orthologous C. grandiflora gene ID when available.

Gene aliases are derived from functional annotations in TAIR12 when an Arabidopsis thaliana homolog and annotation are available.

Ortholog ID search depends on the integrated homolog table for each species. If no result is found, check that the ID belongs to a supported species and visit the Troubleshooting page for more checks.

Gene / TE Card

Clicking a search result opens a gene or TE card page. The card page summarizes available information for that locus or feature.

A Gene / TE Card may include:

  • Locus or feature ID
  • Feature type, such as gene, TE, repeat, or TE subclass
  • Genomic location
  • Functional annotation when available
  • Ortholog or homolog information when available
  • Links to related species or Arabidopsis thaliana annotations when available
  • Sequence or download-related links when available
  • A link to inspect the locus in the genome browser when available

Use the Locus Search page > Open a result > Review the Gene / TE Card > Follow available links to genome browser views, ortholog information, or related resources.

Not every card has all fields. Available fields depend on the feature type and the annotation data currently available in CapBase.
