Capsella orientalis
Capsella orientalis is a self-compatible Capsella species that provides an independent comparison to C. rubella for studying the genomic effects of self-fertilization. Together with the outcrossing C. grandiflora and the recently derived selfer C. rubella, C. orientalis helps establish a comparative framework for examining how mating-system shifts influence gene conservation, transposable element dynamics, and genome organization across the genus.
The C. orientalis RAM v1.1 genome was generated using PacBio HiFi long-read sequencing and Omni-C chromatin conformation capture data. HiFi reads were used for de novo assembly, followed by filtering and curation steps to remove contamination and redundant sequence, and Omni-C information was used to scaffold contigs into a chromosome-scale assembly. This near-gapless genome improves the representation of repetitive regions and provides a stronger foundation for gene annotation, TE annotation, genome browsing, and comparative analysis than earlier fragmented or gapped resources.
This page summarizes available genome information, annotation resources, and downloadable data for the C. orientalis dataset. This page provides a hub for access to the C. orientalis data available so far, via data portals, JBrowse genome browsers, and gene/locus search pages.
