Capsella grandiflora

Capsella grandiflora is an obligate outcrossing species in the Brassicaceae family and represents the outbreeding lineage within the Capsella genus. Its high heterozygosity and larger, repeat-rich genome make it a key reference for studying how mating-system variation shapes genome structure, transposable element dynamics, and gene evolution. In CapBase, C. grandiflora provides an essential comparison point for the self-compatible species C. rubella and C. orientalis.

The C. grandiflora hapA RAM v1.1 genome was generated using PacBio HiFi long-read sequencing and Omni-C chromatin conformation capture data. The assembly was first constructed from HiFi reads, cleaned to remove possible contamination and redundant haplotypic sequence, and then scaffolded with Omni-C information. Because C. grandiflora is highly heterozygous, two haplotypes were assembled; hapA is used here as the representative reference because it is longer, contains fewer small scaffolds, and has stronger continuity metrics than hapB. This assembly represents a major improvement over previous C. grandiflora resources, which had not reached chromosome-scale pseudomolecule organization.

This page summarizes available genome information, annotation resources, and downloadable data for the C. grandiflora hapA dataset. This page provides a hub for access to the C. grandiflora data available so far, via data portals, JBrowse genome browsers, and gene/locus search pages.
